Italy boss Cesare Prandelli will call up Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli to face Romania in a friendly on November 17, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 20-year-old striker scored twice against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday only to then get sent off after kicking out at Youssouf Mulumbu.

City have chosen to appeal the decision, claiming that the incident involving Mulumbu was worthy of a second yellow and therefore a one-match suspension.

In the short-term it means Balotelli will miss tomorrow's all-important Manchester derby, which could go a long way in determining Roberto Mancini's future at Eastlands.

La Gazzetta claims Prandelli will still select the former Inter youngster even though the FIGC's code of ethics expressly prohibit Italy from calling up players who are banned for their clubs.
