Cesare Prandelli believes his “four incredible years as Italy Coach were ruined by just one game. It’ll always be an open wound.”

The former Azzurri boss resigned after crashing out of the 2014 World Cup at the group phase after a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay.

He spoke to Radio Due and was asked if it was true that he hasn’t watched an Italy game since.

“It’s true. We had four incredible years, then just one game ruined everything. It’s an open wound and always will be.

“I started coaching in 1990, I’ve been working non-stop for 25 years and now I am taking a break. It’s a strange sensation.”
