The Fiorentina striker was not called up for the tournament in Brazil after concerns over his fitness, and the former Manchester United man was critical of the decision.
However, given Rossi subsequently missed the whole of last season, the ex-CT believes he’s due an apology.
“This is a special case,” Prandelli explained in an interview with Radio Blu.

“Again, as a fan of Fiorentina he’s a phenomenon from a football point of view. From another point of view, I’m still waiting for a five-letter word [sorry].”
Prandelli is himself a former Viola Coach, and gave his thoughts on the club past and present, as well as his relationship with Daniele Della Valle.
“Paulo Sousa? The the judgement is positive, the players are doing what the Coach wants. The nine points are important, the Viola are doing well.
“We’ve seen the will of the players to go and win the ball, but the defence has to rise to the level of the attack and the midfield
“Fiorentina has a very ambitious support, who want to compete with other teams. In my experience, I was fine, we got to the Champions League four times, and the situations in the transfer market were dictated by the budget.
“There are 22,000 season ticket holders, any protest [against the Della Valles] are out of love for Fiorentina.
“The fans love the team, and would like to see them always being in the top three or winning the Scudetto.
“As for my relationship with Diego Della Valle, there is no relationship. I don’t hold a grudge against anyone, even if certain utterances have hurt me. But that’s life.”
