Cesare Prandelli has told Mario Balotelli “now he needs to go from words to action” after he was dropped from the Italy squad.

The Manchester City striker was frozen out for the 1-0 friendly home defeat to the USA, as he broke the code of ethics by picking up a domestic ban for violent conduct.

“We need to get some players back in shape, especially as the last few games suggested we have some problems without important players,” Coach Prandelli told Rai Sport.

“I know Balotelli wants to be an integral part of this squad, but now he needs to go from words to action.

“The important thing is to grow together. Mario does not have to resolve his problems by himself, but instead must ask for help.”

Prandelli was also asked about his plans for small get-togethers of the Azzurri squad during the season in the lead-up to Euro 2012.

“Nobody is against the Nazionale and finding the time to do this would be something extraordinary.”
