“This morning I went to have breakfast near my house and people had rediscovered their enthusiasm for the Azzurri,” he told ANSA news agency after last night's 1-1 draw with Germany.

“Even those who don't really know that much about football have found that desire and pride for this Italy team.
“In essence, that was our objective. The second target was to play good football. When I took over, there was a general sense of depression around the Nazionale.
“Everyone talked about a four-year plan, but I immediately thought about Euro 2012. Now I think it's clear that we are building something, there is a plan in place both to improve results and our image.”
