“Everything depends on us, it is still all in our hands, so we need to take the initiative and win the game,” said Prandelli in his Press conference.

“The important thing is not to be frenetic, as we must focus, retain our balance and never lose confidence. The lads worked well in training and are in good shape psychologically too.

“The players realised how important this game was and asked to go into an early training retreat so they could focus. We know it all depends on us.”

After President Enrico Preziosi announced he was putting the club up for sale, Genoa fans suspended their protests and will return to the stands.

“I think this city has extraordinary potential and resources. The fans know what they have to do. It is their team, their jersey and a decisive game for all of us.

“We have to take on the responsibility and be ready for this crunch match. We are ready. It is essential that we don’t lose our calm, but also never lose faith, as in those moments when something goes wrong, positive thoughts can make all the difference.”
