Now CalcioNapoli24.it claims that ex-Italy manager Prandelli is a genuine candidate for the Stadio San Paolo.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis was also believed to have offered Prandelli a two-year contract worth €3.5m in 2013, but he rejected it to remain with Italy.

Prandelli resigned as Azzurri Coach in the summer of 2014, after crashing out of the World Cup in the group stage.

He then joined Galatasaray only to be sacked by the Turkish club within months.
