A number of coaches have been linked with the job at the Artemio Franchi with former Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri who is reported to be the number one candidate to take over, should Iachini be sacked.

“We must not be too depressed, we need to find balance in Florence,” Prandelli told Radio Bruno Toscana.

Fiorentina lost Sunday's away Serie A clash against Roma.

“Yesterday, the team struggled but we must understand how to improve.

“Iachini is not afraid to question himself, he’s determined and has temperament. He will be able to bring out the sense of belonging from everyone,” Prandelli insisted.

“If I speak, it’s because I’m a fan, I’m sorry to see this uncertainty. The club is committed to the coach and will give him guidance,” he added.

“They must let the players understand that Florence is something serious.”

But Prandelli admitted he could never turn down a return to the Artemio Franchi.

“I could never say no to the Viola, but that doesn’t mean I’m proposing myself.”
