Former Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli has claimed Federico Chiesa can become “the best player in Europe”.

Prandelli revealed to La Nazione that he has become a gardener at home during the Coronavirus outbreak and claimed he doesn’t care how football will resume, but still had some time to offer his advice for the young Italy star.

“Football will come out transformed, but it will be the same for us. Inevitably,” he told the newspaper.

The Viola sit 13th in Serie A during the suspended 2019-20 season and the former Italy CT has offered some advice for Chies, seeing a potential for him to become one of the top players in Europe.

The Italy international has contributed six goals and five assists in 23 Serie A matches but has been transformed from winger to centre-forward in the absence of Franck Ribery, as coach Beppe Iachini has preferred to play with two up front at the Artemio Franchi.

But Prandelli suggests that the 22-year-old must follow his own instinct and what’s natural to him, in order to develop according to his potential.

“He [Chiesa] must persevere and work in a single direction,” Prandelli said. “I speak of the role, his role.

“Chiesa must specialise in what he feels is his natural tactical position. If he does this, he will become the best player in Europe.”
