Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade confirms Mohamed Salah’s future is down to the player – ‘we want to keep him’.

The Egyptian winger joined the Viola in January, as part of the deal to take Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea.

The initial proposal was a two-year loan deal, with Fiorentina having the option to sign the player for an agreed fee at the end of that spell.

However, it has emerged that the former Basel man has the option to reject a new loan, even if Fiorentina take up their option.

“Fiorentina have exercised our option, the player has the right to choose and hopefully it’ll be in our favour,” Prade said when asked about Salah at Paulo Sousa’s presentation.

“We want to keep him, and Salah will talk to the Coach. His predisposition is to stay.”

The likes of Juventus and Inter have been busy on the transfer market already, but Prade says he will take his time over any moves.

“If the others are signing God-knows-who, that doesn’t mean it has to interest us. Some of them I’m not crazy about to be honest.

“Other teams have signed players that I wouldn’t even dream of taking.

“It takes calm and tranquility, we know our responsibilities and we’ll do our best.”
