Fiorentina director Daniele Pradè is “proud” of President Rocco Commisso for calling the refereeing performance in the Juventus game “disgusting.”

The Italian-American patron went on several television stations to protest vociferously after the 3-0 defeat in Turin, specifically complaining that the second Juve penalty was awarded despite the incident being viewed on VAR.

“It hurts to lose this way, but tomorrow is another day and we have to keep working,” director of sport Pradè told Radio Toscana this morning.

“This wasn’t just about one penalty, it was a series of incidents that went against us and we had shown great fair play by not highlighting them.

“Even when we wanted to, Commisso always told us not to, but that really was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Our President took a stand and this gives me great strength, it makes me very proud.

“I wish to make clear that we have no problems with referees in general, we just want what is fair and what is ours. I am thinking of the foul at the second minute or German Pezzella against Verona or the foul on Franck Ribery that didn’t even warrant a yellow card for Panagiotis Tachtsidis.”

Commisso stated that he would have his say in the Lega Serie A, warning it was bad for the Italian football movement to see that style of refereeing.

“He is trying to work out how the Lega Serie A or the Federation system works,” added Pradè. Now he wants to defend Florence. We were in a situation where we really had reached our limit.

“Commisso gives us great strength and we feel he is trying to ensure fairness for all.”
