Fiorentina director of sport Daniele Pradè practically confirmed Vincenzo Montella’s dismissal. “It’s not easy to find a strong replacement, but patience has its limits.”

For the second season in a row, the Viola are flirting with relegation, as this evening’s 4-1 home defeat to Roma means they picked up one point in the last six Serie A rounds.

“It’s a very tough moment, we can only apologise to the fans,” Pradè told Radio Bruno.

“It’s a very tough moment, we can only apologise to the fans,” Pradè told Radio Bruno.

“We didn’t expect to be in this situation either, so we have to analyse it carefully. We’ll meet tomorrow, hear from (President Rocco) Commisso and then communicate our decisions to you.

“The President wants to reflect. He has never sacked anyone, but the situation is very complicated, despite the many extenuating circumstances.”

Potential new coaches include Beppe Iachini, Gigi Di Biagio and Davide Ballardini, while the first choice Luciano Spalletti is still under contract with Inter.

“It’s not easy to find a strong replacement for Montella. We are a club to be taken seriously, so we won’t go around naming names of other coaches,” continued Pradè.

“We will sleep on it, as we must make the best decision for Florence, for Fiorentina, for the fans and for us. It’s only right that the patience of the fans has its limits.”
