The Viola are rebuilding with new patron Rocco Commisso, who ended a 17-year rule from the Della Valle family.

Chiesa is pushing for a move to Juventus this summer and Pradè was once again forced to slam the door on his ambitions.

“I think the club has been very clear on Chiesa and our desire to keep him,” the director of sport told FirenzeViola.it.

“Federico is a good lad, I understand what’s going through his mind, but he too must understand our needs as a club under a new owner trying to build on solid foundations.”

Pradè was also asked about new purchases, with rumours linking them to free agent Balotelli and Barcelona midfielder Rafinha.

“Balotelli is a lovely guy, but he doesn’t have a place in what we want to do. Rafinha too is a strong player, but in our minds and that of the Coach, there are other elements we want to focus on.

“We want to build a team that has an identity with youth and also experience. We need players who can step into a stadium and be afraid of nobody.”

There have been reports of Fiorentina approaching Borja Valero for a comeback after his Inter spell.

“Borja Valero would be the ideal player, but that doesn’t mean we are trying to sign him. We are simply looking for those characteristics.”
