The official FC Porto channels announce that the negotiations with Milan for Medhi Taremi have been abandoned, so the striker will remain at his current club.

There had seemed to be a deal in place worth circa €15m for the Iran international, when suddenly late last night the move hit serious problems.

It was reported to be a change of the personal terms proposed by different intermediaries, who requested higher commissions and various add-ons.

Milan refused to veer from the agreed fees, especially as the requests were to double or even triple them, and a series of meetings today failed to find a breakthrough.

A statement from Porto Canal this evening announced that Taremi met with Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, with the conclusion reached that the striker would remain for the 2023-24 season at FC Porto.

The negotiations with Milan for the transfer have therefore been ‘concluded’ with no outcome.

FC Porto are in the same Champions League group as Barcelona, Shakhtar Donetsk and Royal Antwerp.
