Manolo Portanova has been remanded after allegedly taking part in a sexual assault with three accomplices in Siena last year.
The 21-year-old Genoa midfielder will appear with two other men in front of the judge of the Court of Siena, Ilaria Cornetti on June 7. The trio, plus a minor, are accused of committing a sexual assault against a 21-year-old woman in a flat in Siena’s city centre on the night of May 30 2021.
As detailed by ANSA, a house arrested was ordered for Portanova and the other suspects, but was then revoked. After 10 months of investigation, which includes a number of interviews and mobile phone examinations, the acting prosecutor Nicola Marini ordered the committal for a trial for Portanova and the other two adult suspects.
One of these two suspects is a relative of the Genoa midfielder. The fourth suspect, who was 17 at the time of the incident, is under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court of Florence.
The 21-year-old Portanova scored his first Serie A goal earlier this month in Genoa’s key 1-0 win over Torino.
