Mario Giuffredi, the agent of Matteo Politano, confirmed that some offers have arrived for his client but claimed that staying with Napoli wouldn’t be an issue.

The 28-year-old Italian forward struggled for consistent minutes in Serie A last season under Luciano Spalletti, only starting in 20 league matches across the campaign. He only scored three goals and provided four assists in 33 games and a departure this summer seemed fairly likely.

Speaking to Mediaset, Giuffredi first confirmed that he’s now made peace with Spalletti following a recent heated discussion.

“I have a good relationship with Spalletti, we had a chat and we made peace, clarifying some things. Everything is fine, everything is calm.

“I always prefer to meet and clarify to continue the work in the best way. Apart from the back-and-forth, with the coach there has always been a good relationship.”

The agent commented on why this controversy erupted in the first place.

“Nothing broke, otherwise we would have all behaved differently. It was a moment of the player. It can be normal that a tired player, at the end of the season, experiences a situation badly and may externalise his thoughts.

“But then it passes. Should Politano stay at Napoli, he will do so with the right mentality, the right enthusiasm.”

He touched on if any offers had arrived from other interested clubs.

“We are talking with other clubs, at Napoli some offer have already arrived but they are not fit for what Napoli is asking for. Politano is at one of the best clubs in Italy and if he were to stay there would be zero problems.”

Giuffredi confirmed Napoli’s €20m valuation of Politano.

“They value him at €20 million, then there is the real value of the market and life situations.”

He touched on the nature of the interest in the 28-year-old.

“There is an Italian club and some foreign ones as well. Milan? We don’t name names.”

Finally Giuffredi commented on if one of the foreign clubs was Spanish. Some reports have linked Politano with a move to Gennaro Gattuso’s Valencia.

“It could be, you know that Gattuso is an admirer of Politano. But he won’t necessarily leave, maybe he’ll stay and in two months he’ll realise he made the best choice by staying.”
