Matteo Politano hopes Napoli can put in the kind of performance against Real Madrid that saw them crush Liverpool 4-1 last season in the Champions League. ‘They do not like running backwards.’

The Partenopei won 2-1 away to Sporting Braga in their opening group fixture, while Carlo Ancelotti’s side only managed a 1-0 against Union Berlin.
This is the first home match of the tournament for Napoli, who are reigning Champions of Italy, and Politano looks back to what happened last season against Liverpool.
“It comes at a moment where we are in good form and it can launch us towards great targets. I remember last season we had the big win against Liverpool and never stopped after that,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
Ancelotti has won more Champions League trophies than any other coach in history and comes here with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior on amazing form, but he also has Eduard Camavinga as a makeshift full-back.
“Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world, but they do not like running backwards, so we must try to keep the ball as much as possible,” added Politano.
