“You know how the market works, it’s right that you try to the very end. The two clubs talk, but if there isn’t an agreement, then the deals aren’t done.”

Napoli sources told Sky Sport Italia that they sent the contracts for both Politano and Adam Ounas – who was meant to move on loan to Sassuolo as part of the deal along with €29m – all signed to the Neroverdi with 13 minutes to spare.

The contracts were not counter-signed and registered in time.

It was €28m plus €1m in bonuses, Ounas on loan and Sassuolo paying Cagliari €8m for Diego Farias.
