Matteo Politano wants to leave Napoli because he ‘doesn’t feel there is faith in him’ from the club or coach Luciano Spalletti, said his agent.

The Italy international winger is eager to move on from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona after dropping down the pecking order under Spalletti.

“We had a meeting with Spalletti and director Giuntoli, because the player doesn’t feel there is the same faith in him that there was before,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Radio Marte.

“If some offers were to come in, Politano would take them into consideration. If they don’t arrive, then he will remain at Napoli with the right mentality.”

There have already been suggestions Politano could reunite with former Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso at Valencia.

“Gattuso admires him and it’s a fine club, but he could also remain in Italy.”

Politano turns 29 in August and plays on the right wing of a trident attack.

He is under contract with Napoli until June 2024 and this season contributed five goals and seven assists in 39 competitive games.

A product of the Roma youth academy, he also represented Perugia, Pescara, Sassuolo and Inter before joining Napoli in January 2020.

That deal was initially a loan for €2.5m with option to buy for a further €21m.

Napoli are completely revamping their attack, with Lorenzo Insigne joining Toronto FC as a free agent and Dries Mertens seemingly not signing a new contract either.

  1. probably because he isn’t foreign enough, i hope napoli win nothing, joke of a club who just sign foreign players who are garbage and so overrated, serie clubs are scum

  2. For those of you who watched yesterday’s game, you’ll know what he its capable of. Perhaps man of the match.. was dangerous most of the night…

  3. for the record, i actually have a go at most of our clubs, if you feel butthurt about me slating napoli then tough, if the boot fits, i support milan and i even slate them and the lack of vision they have with our youth, too many italian fans on here that have accepted mediocrity, if you see me “trolling” its out of frustration at the fact our clubs get everything wrong, dont cry becuase i have said it as it is and called out napoli in this issue, the way de laurentiis has treated insigne has been appalling, if he was non italian de laurentiis would have kept him like mertens who is ancient, ALL the clubs in serie a are getting it wrong, if you dont like me calling them out then grow a pair, stop being deluded, our game is a mess, and im from naples also, for the record its Dennis Not denis, sausage
