Reports in Italy claim Italian Police blocked hundreds of Eintracht Frankfurt fans marching towards Napoli‘s stadium and more officers are on alert around the Diego Armando Maradona mural in the city centre.

German fans have been prohibited from buying tickets for tonight’s Champions League match against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona for security reasons.

However, over 400 arrived in Naples on Tuesday night, joined by other on Wednesday morning.

According to Il Mattino, several Italian police officers have been monitoring the area around the famous mural of Diego Maradona in the Quarteri Spagnoli, a historic neighbourhood in Naples’ city centre, fearing visiting ultras would assault it.

Circa 1,000 police officers have been deployed this morning to control the many German supporters who travelled to Naples despite the ban imposed by the Italian government.

As per Calciomercato.com, circa 600 of them marched towards the Stadio Maradona on Wednesday morning but were blocked by Italian police. Most of them are now in the central Piazza del Plebiscito, but tension remains high with Napoli fans who also assaulted their rivals on Tuesday night.
