Milan midfielder Andrea Poli warns Inter “we’ll definitely arrive prepared” for the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday.
The Rossoneri face their city rivals at the weekend, in what will be Stefano Pioli’s first match on the Beneamata bench.
“These games fire you up by themselves,” Poli said in an interview with Milan TV.
“The team wants to continue to do well. It’ll be a big test, because the team we’re facing aren’t going through a good spell, they’ve just changed Coach.

“We’ll definitely arrive prepared for the match.
“The team is working very well, the internationals have returned and we’re only missing a few players right now.
“Everyone feels it and everyone wants to play, these are the games everyone wants to play on the big stage. We hope to have our say this time.
“It’s a very good atmosphere to breathe, San Siro, the most beautiful stadium there is, exists for these matches.”
The midfielder has previously experienced the Derby della Lanterna between Sampdoria and Genoa, what’s the difference?
“The Milan derby is more followed by the media, they’re two teams of a higher level. The derby is the highlight of the year in every city, but it’s a very heated one in Genoa.”
In a wide-ranging interview, Poli was also asked about his idols growing up.
“[Andres] Iniesta, [Steven] Gerrard and [Frank] Lampard were always my heroes growing up.
“Another was [Andrea] Pirlo, who I was lucky enough to play with in the national team. Those four, mostly.”
