It is now confirmed that Juventus striker Arkadiusz Milik will miss EURO 2024 with Poland after picking up a knee injury.

He was in the starting XI for this evening’s friendly match against Ukraine when he seemed to over-extend his left leg and collide with Genoa midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi.

It was only two minutes into the match and the forward was helped off the field by medical staff, who immediately looked worried.

Coach Michal Probierz confirmed to reporters after the match that Milik will not be able to recover in time for the EURO 2024 tournament and is ruled out.

Another blow for Milik

It is a devastating blow for Milik, who had already been forced to miss the EURO 2020 campaign with Poland due to another injury.

He also tore his anterior cruciate ligament twice in 2016 and 2017 when still at Napoli.

Poland open their group phase against the Netherlands on June 16, before facing Austria and France.

They won the friendly 3-1 against Ukraine with Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski and Empoli defender Sebastian Walukiewicz on target.

The 30-year-old made 36 competitive appearances for Juventus this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist on the way to winning the Coppa Italia.
