Serie A players took centre stage in Slovakia’s 2-1 win against Poland with Karol Linetty and Milan Skriniar on the scoresheet and a Wojciech Szczęsny own goal.

The former Arsenal man is the first goalkeeper to score an own goal in the history of the European Championships and the second Juventus player to put the ball in his own net at Euro 2020 after Merih Demiral.

The Turkey international had oddly broken the deadlock in the second half of the opening game of the competition against Italy on Friday.

Szczesny’s own goal gave Slovakia the lead in the first half of their debut game at Euro 2020 against Slovakia.

Poland are the club with the most Serie A players in the competition after Italy. They have nine players under contract with Serie A clubs and five of them started the game.

One of them, Torino‘s Karol Linetty levelled the score in the second half, but Grzegorz Krychowiak saw red before Inter defender Milan Skriniar eventually scored the winner from a corner kick action.

Former Napoli captain Marek Hamsik started the game for the Slovakians with Parma’s Juraj Kucka and Sassuolo‘s Lukáš Haraslín.
