Paul Pogba looks increasingly likely to head to join an MLS club after his suspension is completed in 2025, despite recent reports linking him with moves to both Barcelona and Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille.

An MLS move looks the most likely scenario for the Frenchman according to Tuesday’s print edition of Tuttosport. An exact club has not yet been specified, but this morning’s reports nod to the fact that he owns a property in Miami, where Lionel Messi also plays, of course.

Why Juventus do not want Pogba

Pogba was handed a four-year suspension last year after he failed a post-match doping test after a 3-0 win over Udinese in August 2023. That ban was officially reduced to just 18 months last week, following a successful appeal to the European Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Though he is still under contract with Juventus until the summer of 2026, Juventus are hoping to reach an agreement to terminate the deal. On his full salary, reported to be in the region of €8m plus significant bonuses, Pogba is one of Juve’s highest earners.

There is also plenty of competition for places in attacking midfield in Thiago Motta’s Juventus project, as €50m recruit Teun Koopmeiners is the currently preferred option, while Kenan Yildiz is also arguably at his best through the middle.

For those reasons, Pogba is unlikely to stay on Juventus’s books for much longer after his ban is completed.

Marseille and Barcelona links

There have also been links to Marseille in recent days. Pogba’s former Juventus, Manchester United and international teammate Patrice Evra has also endorsed that option

Meanwhile, reports from Spain suggest that the 31-year-old would be an ‘ideal’ signing for Barcelona, but their salary cap could be an issue, and would require players to leave first before he hypothetically arrived.
