Paul Pogba has credited Juventus for teaching him how to become a star during his first spell in Turin.

The 29-year-old Frenchman is the star of a new Amazon Prime documentary, known as the ‘Pogmentary’, and he talked about his unhappy second spell with Manchester United, where he struggled to perform his best. It was revealed that a contract offer was made last year but he turned it down, suggesting it was ‘nothing’. He’s now on the verge of joining Juventus on a free transfer.

At one point in the documentary, super agent Mino Raiola is talking in a video call with Pogba, and he seemed to suggest that a return to Juventus was off the cards.

“No, no. Juventus can’t afford you anymore. I’m here. I’m meeting also with Paris and I have already had two meetings with Barca. The market is like the sea: up, down, up, down.”

Later in the documentary, the French midfielder looked back at his first spell in Turin and what it taught him.

“You’re not a star just because you say so. You become a star because people make you a star. That’s what I learned from my time at Juventus.”

Finally, Pogba talked about the importance of his image and how it should be used.

“You have to use your image. The Americans get it. They got it long ago. Your image is your value. Use your image, use your value. You created it. My performance on the field is the basis of my image.”

Many Juventus fans are excited to see Pogba returning to Turin this summer, although some are concerned that the Frenchman’s best days are behind him. With a hefty salary, he’ll have to prove his quality once again.
