French sports daily L’Équipe reported yesterday that the 22-year-old had turned down the English side, despite a personal phonecall from manager Jose Mourinho.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Blues were willing to pay €85m for the former Manchester United man, as well as sending Oscar to Turin in exchange.

The newspaper believes that Pogba was told by his agent, Mino Raiola, that a salary of €12m per season was on offer to move to Stamford Bridge.

However, the French international is keen to become one of the Bianconeri’s leaders, following the departures of Arturo Vidal, Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo.
