Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has postponed his planned specialist consultation, as the midfielder must discuss with France whether he has surgery that could rule him out of the 2022 World Cup.

The former Manchester United man has been diagnosed with a lesion to the lateral meniscus in his right knee after a training session in Los Angeles.

He was expected to go under the knife in the USA and be on the touchlines for just over a month, but instead he flew back to Europe.

A consultation was expected in Lyon today with Professor Sonnery Cottet-Bertrand, who also performed knee surgery on Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but that has been delayed until next week.

According to Calciomercato.com and Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba, Juventus and the France medical staff all want to take their time before making the right decision.

While the operation that would rule him out for one to two months is possible, it could only be a temporary fix and leave the risk of damaging the knee even further along the line.

A suture of the meniscus would resolve the issue once and for all, but at the same time risk ruling Pogba out for five months and therefore missing the 2022 World Cup, set to be played in Qatar in November and December.

  1. Looks like he is thinking mainly about the World Cup. Poor Juve they have gotten themselves into a real mess.

  2. This is a no brainer. If he does not have the operation now just to play in the World Cup, and gets reinjured, which is highly likely, he could damage his knee permanently to the point of ending his career prematurely. Have the operation now and be ready to come back healthy in January 2023.

    Dybala cost too much and was almost always injured BUT he didn’t deliver when he wasn’t injured either. He was almost never influential in Juve in the last two seasons while Pogba even though older than Dybala had been tremendously influential in Man Utd and even for his last game at Juve. Just go check the stats before spreading nonsense.

    Seems like you didn’t read the news. If he goes through surgery right now it will be a chance that it will be a temporary fix. Would you want that for yourself ?
    Pogba is a human being like you. he doesn’t wanna in pain nor does he wanna ruin his career. who are you to say he only cares about sth specific ?

    @Muto
    We will you inter fans after our first encounter this season. i’m sure u wont be here in the comment section. probably be crying

  4. No other club in world football has the injury issues before, during or after. The Flimsey J Medical at its finest to not check the engine before purchase wreaks of incompetence. At least Julian has saved the Dutch Phil Jones, can get him back to shape and up to the standards that a proper big club demands. Pogba should definitely go to the WC. He will unlikely make the cut for 2026 and Tchouameni and Camavinga will be the starters. France has a good chance of winning. To get a second WC medal back to back, or compete is the highest accolade in a player’s career. With Operation Max, bridge to nowhere his chances of silverware have gone.

  5. Lol Camavinga couldn’t even sideline kroos or modric or casemiro , how can he win World Cup ? Tchouameni ?! LMAO , don’t even wanna talk about that , lol . not worth it

  6. LMAO read 2026 WC. They are the future and Real Madrid buy wisely. 14 CL’s enough said and only the club to have retained it 3 times in the modern format. More than Juve’s 125 existence and entire collection lol. Juve thought the same of Mbappe and Haaland and look at where they are now. LOL Juve were interested in Tchouameni until Project slow heard he is 22 and would cost £80M. Typical PhD thinker never reads and too occupied with the Feng Shui back, back, down, down put me to sleep after 26 seconds, 1Mbps dial up calcio and wants more lol. Camavinga is being transitioned to take over and did great when needed in the CL. Heaven forbid if PhD Max gave Fagioli 2 minutes in a CL game.

  7. It’s understandable that he’s prioritizing the WC. It’s every footballer’s dream and it only happens every 4 years.

    That choice between two types of surgery must be tough. I hope he ends up choosing what’s best for his career and for Juve, whatever that it.
