Mauro Camoranesi believes Paul Pogba is the ‘most important’ player for Juventus, but warns against putting too much pressure on him.
The 22-year-old took over the Bianconeri’s famous number 10 shirt from Carlos Tevez this summer, and is now widely expected to become a leader of the team.
“It’s strange to see the Frenchman with that number on his back,” Camoranesi admitted in an interview with Tuttosport, the number previously having been worn by Alessandro Del Piero, Michel Platini and Roberto Baggio.

“He has different characteristics. He can’t be asked to carry the team at his age, [but] he has a great future ahead and he’s shown that he has huge room for improvement.
“Nowadays he’s the team’s most important player, but it would be wrong to expect too much from him, that would risk burning him out.
“If he’s supported in the right way he’ll become crucial for Juve.”
Camoranesi was also asked whether Serie A is once again becoming an attractive League for foreign stars.
“I hope it will be the case more and more. It’s especially down to Juventus, who have returned to a competitive level in Europe after being that way for a long time in Italy.
“They showed their best in Europe.
“In the last five or six years though, Italian teams have really struggled to be protagonists in Europe. Of course, it’s impossible to compete with countries like Spain, England and Germany where there’s more money.
“That means that it’s players of a certain calibre who move to Italy, so from that point of view it’s not as competitive.
“We have to focus more on the results in Europe in order to attract more top players. Today we’re a long way from the appeal [of Serie A] in my time.
“That said, Juventus made a great purchase in [Sami] Khedira, a starter for the German national team and Real Madrid.
“He’s a guarantee.”
