Paul Pogba is expected to miss Juventus’ remaining games of the 2022-23 season after receiving the official diagnosis of the thigh injury he sustained during the 2-0 win over Cremonese on Sunday.

Juve released a brief statement on the club website on Monday afternoon, revealing that the Frenchman has suffered a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris in his left thigh and that the rehabilitation process has already begun.

The injury is not insignificant, but thankfully for Pogba, it is less serious than what had originally been feared.

According to SportMediaset, the usual layoff period for an injury of that severity tends to last in the region of 20 days, but with the Serie A season drawing to a close on June 4, it is unlikely that Pogba will feature for Juve before the end of this campaign.

Pogba picked up the injury just over 20 minutes into his first start for the Old Lady since making his return to Turin from Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and has only featured for a total of 159 minutes in black and white over the course of the season.

The 30-year-old was greeted by a wave of messages online after going down hurt against Cremonese and was also met by a number of fans as he made his way into JMedical for tests on Monday morning.

His injury means that he will definitely be unavailable to Massimilano Allegri for the second leg of the Europa League semi-final against Sevilla on Thursday evening.

  1. Allegri knew he wasn`t ready (read his statements before the match). Must have been a punishment for Pogba`s comments to the touch-line 😉
