During his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paul Pogba refused to blame Juventus for giving Kenan Yildiz the No.10 shirt: ‘It’s not my number!’

Yildiz was given the No.10 shirt at the Allianz Stadium last summer after signing a contract extension with the Bianconeri.

It previously belonged to Pogba, but the French midfielder was serving a four-year doping ban then.

“It is not my number, it is Juve’s number! When I returned to Manchester United in 2016, it’s not like I took the 10 with me,” Pogba told Gazzetta.

Kenan Yildiz signs new Juventus contract and picks up iconic no.10 jersey. (August 16, 2024).

“I told Kenan he has talent and he deserves that shirt. I could tell from the first training sessions that he was different. Juventus did well to focus on the present, as I had a four-year ban, so of course, they gave the 10 to Kenan.”

During the same interview, Pogba said he’d take a pay cut to remain at the club. Nevertheless, the Bianconeri are eager to continue discussing terminating his contract before he returns to the pitch next year.

Pogba’s doping ban has now been reduced to 18 months, so he’ll be eligible to play starting in March 2025.
