Three months after Paul Pogba’s knee surgery, the Juventus star is still not close to returning to action just yet and faces more time on the sidelines, reports detail.

The 29-year-old Frenchman suffered a knee injury during a pre-season training session with the Bianconeri in late July. He initially elected for a conservative treatment plan, not wanting to risk missing out on the World Cup because of an operation, but slow progress meant that he underwent surgery in early September, which gave him an eight-week recovery plan.

Unfortunately for Pogba and Juventus, his recovery has been much slower than expected, Calciomercato.com highlights. The French midfielder has not still returned to training on the pitch yet, continuing to carry out work in the gym and swimming pool, and he’ll have to wait a little longer to start working with the ball.

Pogba is expected to be sidelined for one more month, at least, meaning he could miss out on six more Bianconeri games in January, including the tough clash with Napoli. It’s a frustrating blow for the 2018 World Cup winner, who had hoped his hard work in recovery would see him take to the pitch quicker.

The 29-year-old’s situation also has transfer market ramifications for the Old Lady. With Pogba out, Massimiliano Allegri cannot afford to lose Adrien Rabiot in January, even if his contract is starting to run down. Luckily for Juventus, the former Paris Saint-Germain man seems content to play out the season in Turin before departing in the summer.
