Paul Pogba is still not close to returning to action for Juventus and his slow recovery has forced the club to change their plans for Adrien Rabiot, reports detail.

Over three months after his knee surgery in early September, the French midfielder is still carrying out a personalised recovery programme in Turin, working in the gym and swimming pool to try and build up his strength. Pogba is expected to remain sidelined for another month at least, disappointing for Juventus, who gave him a lucrative contract in the summer.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Pogba’s absence means Juventus cannot afford to lose any midfielders in the coming January transfer window, with Massimiliano Allegri making it clear that the department cannot be touched.

Rabiot’s contract is set to expire with the Bianconeri at the end of this season and a renewal is unlikely, making January the perfect time to cash in on the French midfielder, but the injury to his compatriot means Juventus aren’t keen to risk further reducing the options available to Allegri.

  1. Get used to it. POGBA will never be fit. Get rid of Rabiot now to cash in, let the youngster play. Allegri grow a spine.
