The news that Paul Pogba has damaged the lateral meniscus in his knee and could be out for several weeks prompts Juventus fans to look back at his terrible recent fitness record for Manchester United.

A statement from the club confirms Pogba has been diagnosed with a lesion to the lateral meniscus in his right knee and will visit a specialist.

If it is simply a small lesion that can be resolved with conservative treatment, then he will be out of action for two to three weeks.

However, if surgery is required, that could take two to three months to get him back on the pitch.

The news of an injury so early into pre-season is a blow for Juventus fans, but perhaps not entirely a surprise for Manchester United supporters, who grew increasingly frustrated with his injury record.

Last season the 29-year-old made only 27 competitive appearances for the club, contributing one goal and nine assists.

Pogba had eight different injuries over the last three seasons, in which he missed a total of 72 matches in 33 months.

This was largely due to recurring muscular issues to his thigh, hamstring and calf, and an ankle sprain, so the addition of the knee is hardly reassuring.

Even with the best case scenario, it will be a race against time for Pogba to be available for the opening Serie A game of the season against Sassuolo on August 15.

  1. PhD Max will be scratching his bald headed eagle and be wondering how. CALMAAA!!! He will now have to ask Flimsey to deputise and pray to the all mighty that he can finish 11 mins of any game. 89 games missed in 6 failed years and the reward is a £10M contract with bonuses. Ever wonder why Liverpool, Bayern and the GOAT Real Madrid win CL’s. Simple, they are proper clubs with a superior level of planning, infrastructure and do not chase players who cherish Tik Tok more than their actual job.

  2. So he went into the medical before he was signed. Nothing that was peculiar poppped up? It seems like the only person who has a PhD is Mad himself. I bet he does the players physical and rehab too

  3. Just because he is injured it does not mean our entire season is in shambles. He is a big part of the team, but we are definitely not short of midfielders. We also need to get rid of a few. I am still remaining positive. Don’t listen to the negativity coming from LA, this guy still hopes and prays every night that Allegri will adopt him. I actually don’t even mind him anymore. We can’t abandon people who are just not as lucky as others. Yes LA you are indeed Very Special, and we all urge you to keep posting as long as it keeps you out of your daily misery.

  4. I find it rather strange that Juvenesia and MOHAMMED rarely replies on these type of news, something that might be of concern of the team that they supported. But lo and behold, whenever Milan news pops up, they are always the first to arrive.

Anyway, get well soon Pogba, it’s a shame that he is injured without having even played a single game yet.. One has to wonder though if this is why PSG and Real Madrid took a step back to sign him?

  5. Perfect, where are all the Dybala haters? He missed 39 games since the start of 2019, and nearly half (18) of those were from an MCL tear in 20/21. But Pogba has missed almost double (72) in the same time, and we were clamoring for his return? Another example of selling tickets. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into another 2 months out injury.

Just a shame Juve don’t play in the WC, isn’t it?

Pogba has been a disgrace at club level for the majority of the last 6 years.
