Paul Pogba has decided against knee surgery, so will have conservative treatment for five weeks and hope to keep both his return Juventus season and the 2022 World Cup within his reach.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this is the course of action that has been decided by Pogba and medical staff from both Juve and the France national team.

The first part of the treatment regime will be in the gym and pool, then on the field working separately from his teammates.

The midfielder sustained a lesion to the lateral meniscus in his right knee during a training session over a week ago in Los Angeles.

Surgery seemed inevitable, but there were concerns removing part of the meniscus would damage the stability of the knee in future and not fully resolve the issue.

A suture was proposed, but that would rule Pogba out for five months and force him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The long delays were prompted by fears of making the wrong decision, so following today’s specialist consultation in Lyon, they opted to avoid surgery.

  1. France won’t even qualify from its WC group with those entitled pricy overrated Mbappe, maybe Benzema helps them but they’re gonna get eliminated in a funny way this year . I would have opted for a long-term solution if I were Pogba. I’m not Pogba. So I comment here. lol

  2. He’s missed 75 games since March 2019. Why is anyone surprised of this development. I wish this management team would stop trying to get the hottest model alive for a prom date, and settle on the girl next door, who will be there for you day in and day out. Not until something better comes along.

  3. We let Dybala go because of his big salary and because of the injuries, now we have another star with the same problem. And don’t forget Chiesa, nobody knows what’s gonna happen with him after his return. Poor Juve.

  4. I have suffered the same injury, it will always bother him until he gets the surgery. If he plays through the pain it will severely limit his playing style. Lets see how it pans out.
