PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino hopes Mauro Icardi doesn’t leave in January and insists he trusts both Gigio Donnarumma and Keylor Navas.

The Ligue 1 giants sealed a 2-0 win over Monaco last night with Donnarumma starting between the sticks.

“We played seven games this month, Keylor Navas was sent off against Nantes and was suspended against Saint-Etienne. They’ve played five and four matches, so we trust both of them,” Pochettino said at a post-match press conference.

The Italy international was named best goalkeeper in 2021 during the Ballon d’Or ceremony two weeks ago, but it’s still not a regular starter in Paris. The same goes for former Inter captain Mauro Icardi.

The Argentinean striker has scored three goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this term and Juventus are interested in securing his services in the January transfer window.

There are reports linking Icardi with a loan move to Turin, but Pochettino hopes the Argentinean remains in Paris.

“It’s not the right moment to talk about transfers, we must focus on ending the year in the best way,” the former Tottenham coach said.

“However, we are happy with him and we hope he can stay with us.”
