Pobega also withdraws from Azzurri training camp

Following on from Alessandro Florenzi’s departure from Coverciano last night, Tommaso Pobega has now become the latest player to leave the Azzurri training camp.

The 22-year-old Italian midfielder received his first call-up to the Italy senior team this international break following a strong season on loan at Torino. Pobega scored four goals and provided three assists in 33 Serie A appearances this season, proving himself to be tactically flexible and reliable.

As announced in an official statement, Pobega has withdrawn from the Azzurri training camp due to injury and he’ll now return to his club for treatment.

The statement also confirmed that Sandro Tonali, who is disqualified from Italy’s upcoming match against Germany, will remain with the squad until the end of the international break. Tomorrow morning he will join the squad on the trip to Düsseldorf, ahead of the match against Hansi Flick’s side.

A win for Italy against Germany would see them sit comfortably at the top of their Nations League group, a strong start to the new era.
