Rafael Leao is Football Italia’s MVP in Milan‘s Champions League win against PSG. Check out player ratings for the Rossoneri’s 2-1 victory at San Siro.

Milan

Maignan 7.5 – The Frenchman produced at least three super saves in the first half, but it turned quieter in the second part of the game even if PSG continued pushing.

Calabria 7 – Two weeks ago, he had caused outrage by saying: ‘Who doesn’t believe, can go home.’ The Rossoneri captain led the team by example tonight, but obviously, he needed help to stop Mbappé.

Thiaw 7.5 – Very aggressive, never caught out of position. Solid. What Milan needed.

Tomori 7.5 – The English centre-back keeps improving, game after game, becoming Milan’s defensive leader.

Theo Hernandez 7.5 – Delivered the assist for Giroud and was diligent defensively. A much-needed return for the Rossoneri.

Loftus-Cheek 8 – Now that he’s back, everyone has realised how much Milan missed the Englishman when he was injured. He was dominant in central midfield thanks to his physicality and late runs.

Reijnders 7 – Played as a deep-lying playmaker for the first time in a competitive game for Milan and provided quality in central midfield.

Musah 7 – Endless stamina, but he was booked in the second half, so he’ll be suspended in the next match against Borussia Dortmund. Wasted a good chance in the first half. (84′ Krunic N/A)

Pulisic 6.5 – The American was among the best Milan players in the opening stages of the game, but could not keep the same intensity for the whole game. He suffered an injury at minute 90, so he was subbed off. (90′ Florenzi N/A)

Leao 9 – It had to be his night, and it was. Forget the goal, which was impressive. The Portuguese’s performance was outstanding. He terrified PSG defenders. Pace, physicality, right decisions at the right time. He showed the true version of Leao and it was almost unplayable. He earned a standing ovation when he was subbed off. Deserved. (85′ Okafor N/A)

Giroud 8.5 – Contributed to Leao’s goal and beat Skriniar with a towering header to give Milan the lead. The Frenchman showed up on the big stage when Milan needed it most.

Coach: Pioli 7.5 – Milan were winless in four games with no goals scored in the Champions League this season. Many felt the Rossoneri needed a miracle to beat PSG and Pioli made it happen. The Rossoneri were more balanced in the second half, slightly changing their tactical approach, and it paid off. A whole new season can start now for the Diavoli.

PSG (4-3-3): Donnarumma 7; Hakimi 5, Marquinhos 6, Škriniar 5.5 (89′ Barcola N/A), L. Hernandez 5 (65′ Mukiele 6); Zaïre-Emery 6.5, Ugarte 6 (60′ Fabian Ruiz 5.5), Vitinha 6 (60′ Lee Kang-In); Dembélé 6.5, Kolo Muani 5 (60′ Gonçalo Ramos 5), Mbappé 5.5. Coach: Luis Enrique 5.
