Inter and Napoli defenders shone at San Siro on Sunday, but Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia failed to impress. Check out player ratings from San Siro.

Inter

Sommer – 6 There was not much he could do to avoid Juan Jesus’ goal. Other than that, it was a quiet night for the Swiss international.

Pavard 6 – Booked in the first half, the France international was replaced during the break after an average performance (46′ Bisseck 6).

Acerbi 6.5 – Inter didn’t risk much but conceded from a corner kick.

Bastoni 7 – Second consecutive assist in Serie A—more than a defender.

Darmian 7 – Scored the opener and was wise defensively. (84′ Buchanan N/A)

Mkhitaryan 5.5 – Not effective as usual, but the quality with the ball at his feet was always the same.

Calhanoglu 6 – Passing accuracy 92%, three ground duels from three won. Perhaps he didn’t shine, but numbers prove he was not disappointing.

Barella 6.5 – He didn’t score but he was the most dangerous Inter midfielder. (76′ Frattesi 6)

Dimarco 6.5 – Always a threat down the left flank. It’s nice to see him in great shape ahead of the Italy games. (79′ Dumfries N/A)

Thuram 5 – After his error against Atletico on Wednesday, he was disappointing again.

Lautaro Martinez 5.5 – Promising start, but El Toro was rarely dangerous. (79′ Sanchez N/A)

Coach: Inzaghi 6 – Great Inter for an hour, scored a trademark goal but sat too deep in the final minutes.

Napoli

Meret 7 – A few excellent saves in the first half. The second half was quieter.

Di Lorenzo 6 – A balanced performance from the Azzurri captain.

Rrahmani – 6.5 – Napoli’s defensive leader. Argued with Thuram in the second half and won most duels.

Juan Jesus 7 – A goal against his former club, pretty unexpected, but deserved because the Brazilian was always focused.

Olivera 5.5 – Should have kept a close eye on Darmian  (75′ Mario Rui 6)

Anguissa 6.5 – Sharp defensively, he tried to hurt with a couple of shots from outside the box.

Lobotka 6 – Napoli didn’t move the ball as quickly as last season, but Stan never gave up and was physically tough.

Traoré 5 – He should have provided quality and numerical advantage in the final third, but he didn’t do so. (71′ Cajuste 6)

Politano 6.5 – The Italian is in great shape. His crosses were always dangerous, especially the one that led to Juan Jeus’ goal.

Raspadori 5.5 – Struggled to find space between Inter defenders. (75′ Simeone 6)

Kvaratskhelia 5.5 – A bit irritable, came face-to-face with Darmian and Bastoni and wasn’t as dangerous as usual.

Coach: Calzona 6 – Napoli deserved the draw for what they produced in the final 30 minutes, but they need a fresh start from next season.
