According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Miralem Pjanic has agreed a 20 per cent pay cut so that he can leave Barcelona for Juventus on loan for up to two seasons.
The midfielder only made the transfer to Camp Nou a year ago as part of the exchange for Arthur Melo, with the deal registered at €60m.
However, he fell down the pecking order after Ronald Koeman took over and is not part of the Blaugrana’s plans this season.
He was left on the bench in last night’s 3-0 Barcelona friendly win over Juventus, but the match was an opportunity for the two clubs to discuss his situation.
Sport now suggest that Pjanic has accepted a 20 per cent pay cut in order to make the move happen, helping Juve to cover the salary without going over budget.
It would be a one-season loan, but with a clause allowing Juve to extend it for the 2022-23 campaign as well.
Coach Max Allegri has been using Aaron Ramsey and Danilo as playmakers in front of the defence during pre-season, which some saw as a hint to the club that he needed reinforcements in that area.
