Miralem Pjanic believes that sacking Max Allegri would ‘make no sense’ for Juventus: ‘Sometimes a spark is enough to turn things around.’

The Tuscan tactician is under fire following a poor start to the season with just two victories in nine games across all competitions.

Juventus suffered back-to-back defeats to Benfica and Monza last week and are seven points behind Serie A leaders Napoli and Atalanta.

Allegri is under increasing pressure, but the club is not considering sacking him and former Juve midfielder Pjanic believes it is the right choice.

“A change would make no sense now. Allegri’s Juventus can turn things around, but everyone must reflect,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Nobody can be happy, starting with players. Allegri and his staff are doing their assessments too. The season is balanced and anything can still happen. Sometimes you have to face tough moments to experience the greatest satisfaction.”

What does he make of Juventus’ crisis?

“When these moments come, you have many doubts and not many certainties. It doesn’t matter who you face,” he said.

“It’s a psychological thing, but right now a spark is enough to turn things around. They must remain united and not search guilty ones. Everyone’s responsible for victories and defeats. I can see a lot of negativity, but the world of Juventus must remain united.

“The club, the fans and the team. Juventus already have many opponents, if they enter the stadium and have their fans against them, it all becomes more complicated.”

Players were booed after their last two defeats last week and stood still in front of their supporters as a sign of apology.

The Old Lady’s campaign resumes next week with a home clash against Bologna.

Pjanic, 32, scored 22 goals in 178 appearances with the Old Lady where he played for four years, from 2016 until 2020. He joined Barcelona in a swap deal with Arthur after the COVID pandemic and has now signed with Sharjah Football Club after a disappointing spell at the Nou Camp.

  1. Well someone else has to step in..maybe allowing Alkegri only to watch his team playing and then learn something from. Letting Allegri all the way all on his own bring nothing but more disappointment.

  2. He is an astute reader of the game and former favorite of Hiroshima Max aka the Allegrisaurus. A player that moves as slow as B Brasilero Arthur and takes centuries to move from a-b. He is right the 7/9 are world famous for their 1-0 gritty ball adventures and why change. Agnelli was having none of Sarri Ball and Pirlo had ideas. Those ideas will never get green lighted unless they involve ways to make the back, back, down, down even more zombified.

  3. I can’t believe the continued stupidity of this guy. His career as an attacking midfielder was actually ruined when he decided to leave Roma to play under the back, back down of Allegri.
