Former Juventus star Miralem Pjanic says Leo Messi is the best free-kick taker in the world despite never practising in training.

Pjanic scored 19 free-kick goals during his time in Serie A with Roma and Juventus. He was the designated taker in Turin before Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club in 2018.

Pjanic is one of the few players who shared the dressing room with Ronaldo and Leo Messi but believes that the Argentinean striker is better than CR7. Pjanic and Messi spent one season together at Barcelona in 2020-21.

When La Gazzetta dello Sport asked him who is the best free-kick taker in the world, Pjanic replied: “Messi. I’ve practised free-kicks twice a week for 20-30 minutes a day, for my entire life. Maybe he practices one or twice a year, and that’s how he takes them.”

The Bosnia international spent four seasons at Juventus before moving to the Nou Camp in the summer of 2020 in a swap deal with Arthur. He is now on loan at Besiktas, but he revealed that he’d like to return to Serie A in the future.
