Miralem Pjanic admits Bosnia and Herzegovina “certainly don’t deserve” to qualify from this Euro 2020 group, but hopes his injury is not serious.

“We certainly don’t deserve to be in the top two of this group,” the Juventus midfielder told Rai Sport following a 3-0 home defeat to Italy.

“Italy caused us a lot of problems, but yet again we could’ve got back into the game with two or three chances, although the Azzurri took control again and deserved the victory.”

There is still some hope for Bosnia, as they could qualify for Euro 2020 via the Nations League play-offs in March.

Pjanic limped off during this evening’s match in Zenica, clutching the adductor of his right thigh.

“I hope it’s nothing serious. I’ve been carrying this problem for a while now, we’ll see over the next few days, but I hope that I stopped in time to avoid anything worse.”
