Andrea Pirlo and Giuseppe Pancaro were on target for Milan Glorie in a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool Legends at Anfield.

The charity event was packed with star names, including Coach Carlo Ancelotti, who set his Rossoneri out with the classic Christmas Tree formation.

Marcos Cafu looked much like his old self bursting down the right flank on to Manuel Rui Costa passes, but Luis Garcia missed a sitter on a rapid counter-attack.

Billy Costacurta lost sight of Robbie Fowler and allowed him to meet Glen Johnson’s cross one-on-one with Dida.

Billy Costacurta lost sight of Robbie Fowler and allowed him to meet Glen Johnson’s cross one-on-one with Dida.

Daniel Agger wasted another chance and Dida performed a great save on Luis Garcia, while for old time’s sake Pippo Inzaghi was caught offside and had penalty appeals waved away.

Jerzy Dudek brought back memories of the 2005 Champions League Final with a desperate save on Kaka, set up by the irrepressible Cafu.

Kaka wasted another good chance, again created for him by Cafu, and Digao was caught napping for the second Liverpool goal, allowing Djibril Cisse to go clear.

Pirlo proved he’s definitely still got it with a magnificent trademark free kick that curled over the wall.

Marco Borriello failed to make the most of a goalkeeping howler and Christian Abbiati used his leg to deny Gerrard after another poor Costacurta attempt at an interception, while Smicer somehow missed from a yard.

Pancaro thought he’d snatched a draw with his late curler from outside the box, probably the most beautiful goal of his career.

However, less than 120 seconds later, Gerrard had cut past two defenders to curl into the bottom corner.
