Andrea Pirlo’s partner Valentina Baldini lashed out against Federico Bernardeschi, who declared he wasn’t allowed to play his own role under the former Juventus coach.

After captaining the Azzurri in a 7-0 win over San Marino, the former Fiorentina winger, who scored the opener, said he ‘enjoyed more freedom’ under CT Roberto Mancini.

Pirlo’s partner Valentina has already raised her voice after Juventus sacked the former midfielder, and this time she hits out at Bernardeschi on social media.

She posted a photo of the tributes from Federico Chiesa, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gianluigi Buffon, plus the interview of Bernardeschi after the friendly against San Marino.

“[Mancini] always aims to play me in a role that suits my characteristics,” Bernardeschi told RAI Sport. “It’s absolutely true that I feel more freedom here, because I’m allowed to take risks here.”

The 28-year-old was in the starting line-up eight times in Serie A this term and Pirlo’s partner responded to the criticism of her husband.

“When on the pitch you show a millionth of what the real champions have done, but you decide to ‘risk’ the interview after scoring a goal against San Marino,” she wrote. “Misunderstood genius.”

Pirlo was sacked after only one season in charge of the Bianconeri, but he picked up two trophies during his first campaign as a head coach – winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Juventus finished fourth in Serie A and qualified for the Champions League on the last day of the championship.
