Zvonimir Boban believes that Juventus failed to win against Inter because of Andrea Pirlo's ‘vanishing’ performance, despite dominating the first half.

The Bianconeri were held to a 1-1 draw against Roberto Mancini's team yesterday evening, in spite of beginning the game in the ascendancy and ending it with a man advantage.

Former midfielder Boban was appreciative of the game, but believes Juve were to blame for not following through on that strong first half.

“It was a very beautiful game, utterly intense,” Boban declared on Sky Sport Italia, as relayed by TuttoJuve.

“Inter had the opportunity of winning a game that seemed hopeless, after the first half dominated by Juventus everywhere and in everything.

“Pirlo vanished from the game, Juventus lost their calm, making some strange mistakes through [Leonardo] Bonucci. The whole defence developed a sense of uncertainty, they no longer passed the ball calmly.

“It didn't come from Pirlo, who is normally the great playmaker, the great architect of what happens on the pitch.

“That no longer happened and Juventus vanished, they could no longer find their process and their game.

“Inter took advantage of that with the individual quality of Hernanes at first, then [Fredy] Guarin and [Mateo] Kovacic, whose performance improved.

“Their game became much better and they had several opportunities. Juve strangely disappeared from the pitch in the second half.”
