Pirlo swoop impresses Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon believes that Andrea Pirlo could help bring back the glory days to struggling Juventus.

The Old Lady have struggled over the past two campaigns after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

However, Buffon is confident that La Vecchia Signora could be a major player in the 2011-12 campaign.

"The population of Juventini just want to win and I hope to get back to winning ways with the club in 2012," he stated.

"I don't know with which player that will be with. Possibly Pirlo seeing as he is the best signing a side can make."

Pirlo was acquired from Milan on a free transfer after he failed to agree terms over a new contract with the Rossoneri.

Buffon was also rumoured to be considering a switch this summer, but he maintains he is once again happy in Turin.

"I can confirm that my relationship with the people who run Juventus has returned to being very good," he concluded.
