England international Kalvin Phillips reveals Andrea Pirlo sent him a video message on the eve of the UEFA EURO 2020 Final against Italy.

Although Pirlo was obviously supporting the Azzurri in the game at Wembley Stadium, he was still intrigued by Leeds United midfielder Phillips, who is nicknamed the Yorkshire Pirlo.

The video message was sent via Jack Harrison, who was teammates with Pirlo at NYCFC in MLS.

“Good luck in the final and all the best,” was Pirlo’s message via video.

Phillips couldn’t believe it when he received the clip and especially as it did not include any attempt to put England off against the Azzurri.

“Oh my God. I thought he was going to say something about Italy but no, he wished me well. Full respect for that,” Phillips told talkSPORT.

“I’ve seen that he’s very cool, but I’ve heard he’s a nice guy as well.

“To have someone on the other side wish you well and especially a player like that… it’s a great feeling.”

Italy lifted the EURO 2020 trophy at Wembley after a penalty shoot-out victory, as it was 1-1 after 120 minutes.
