The biggest danger the coach sees in this game is still riding on the wave of enthusiasm created by their 3-0 Champions League triumph at Camp Nou.

“If we do still Barcelona on our minds, then we have to change that right now, turn over a new leaf and create a sense of consistency,” Pirlo told JTV.

“We can’t let that moment stop at one game and we’ve got to do better than over the last four Serie A matches. I want to see the same hunger and determination, otherwise we’ll run into an ugly surprise.”

Alvaro Morata is available again after his two-match ban for insulting the referee was halved on appeal.

“It’s going to be a difficult match against Genoa, who are very good at the defend and counter approach. They have quick and often physical players upfront, so we have to be very focused.

“I always liked playing at Marassi, it’s an English style stadium and I scored a goal here for Juventus.”

Juan Cuadrado has been one of Juve’s most consistent performers so far this season.

“He’s a very important figure for us and has been for several years,” added Pirlo. “He knows how to defend and attack, but at times I et cross with him because he does too many little tricks and flicks rather than remain in the game for every second.”
