It was in the 2018-19 campaign, when the Italy World Cup winner was in charge of Bologna, with the Rossoblu who held Milan to a 0-0 stalemate at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

Inzaghi scored 126 goals in 300 appearances with the Rossoneri during his playing career. He won ten trophies between 2001 and 2012, including two Serie A titles and two Champions League.

Inzaghi scored 126 goals in 300 appearances with the Rossoneri during his playing career. He won ten trophies between 2001 and 2012, including two Serie A titles and two Champions League.

The 47-year-old begun his coaching career in the Rossoneri’s youth sector. He won the Torneo di Viareggio with the Primavera Team in February 2014, becoming the head coach of the senior team in June of the same year.

He was sacked at the end of the season after reaching a 10th placement with the Diavoli, failing to gain qualification for Europe.

He then earned a Serie B promotion with Venezia in the 2016-17 campaign and in the following season he qualified for the Serie B playoffs.

He joined Bologna in summer 2018, but was sacked in January 2019. He moved to Benevento in Serie B in the 2019-20 campaign and was promoted to Serie A in his first season in charge of the Streghe.

The newly-promoted side sit 10th in the Serie A table, with 18 points in 14 games.

“This feels a bit like the game against Lazio, when I was up against my brother Simone,” Inzaghi said in his press conference on Saturday.

“It was a tough experience on a human level, but also a very emotional one, difficult to describe. Everyone knows how much I love Milan and I think that sentiment is mutual with the Rossoneri fans. As we say in these situations, we’ll be rivals for 90 minutes and after that I can get back to being the Number One Milan Fan.”
