Pioli set for Inter

It’s expected Inter will sack Frank de Boer later this morning, with Stefano Pioli to replace him.

Rumours began to come to a head last night that the Dutchman would be relieved of his duties, following seven defeats in his first 14 games in charge.

This morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport states that De Boer will have a conference call today with the Suning owners, who will officially confirm their decision.

The former Ajax Coach will continue to receive his wages until June, at which point his contract will be terminated for a fee of €1.3m per a pre-agreed clause.

His replacement is almost certain to be Stefano Pioli, with the Nerazzurri waiting for De Boer’s official departure to begin talks with Lazio.

The tactician is still under contract with the Biancocelesti after his sacking last season, but his release is simply a formality.

Gazzetta reports that there has been some consideration of the likes of Laurent Blanc and Andre Villas Boas, but the Beneamata are likely to go with an Italian option.

Primavera Coach Stefano Vecchi is expected to take training today, and could even be in charge for Thursday’s Europa League match at Southampton.
